Now hiring: a part-time graphic designer! We are looking for a designer ready to take on the world of print design for regional and national publications. This job is rooted in print design — designing both custom advertisements and editorial pieces. It’s not all magazines, though! As a full-fledged art department, there will be a variety of projects to keep you busy and engaged. Job Requirements: Knowledge of design fundamentals, concepts and typography. Able to design artwork in a timely manner (often under strict deadlines). Detail oriented. Demonstrates strong visual, verbal and written communication skills. Multi-tasking and organizational skills. Able to work alone and as a part of a team with other designers/co-workers. Technical skills (knowledge of design software and print preparation) are essential.
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's or Associate's Degree in Graphic Design (or equivalent experience), 1-3 years professional experience in print design preferred, proficient with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign and Acrobat). Knowledge of how to prepare files for print is a must.
Seeking a motivated individual for a full time Estimator position. Must be able to create estimates on a computer in a fast-paced commercial printing environment.
• Estimates labor and material costs of printing and binding books, pamphlets, periodicals, and other
printed matter, based on specifications outlined on sales order or submitted by prospective customer.
• Examines job specifications, generates layouts, calculates unit and production costs using EFI pace
computer system and considering factors such as: size and number of sheets or pages, paper stock, binding
operations, color, mail services and vendor services.
• Confers with sales, prepress, pressroom & bindery personnel to develop or confirm information
regarding various job elements.
• Experience in offset printing/graphics preferred
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Must be detail oriented and time efficient.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Computer Skills / Software: Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel
The ideal candidate will have 5+ years' experience in a commercial printing environment.
*Hourly position. Pay is based on experience.
